Convict Lake

After visiting Devils Postpile, I backtracked my way to the 395 Highway, going south to observe the afternoon light in Convict Lake. In fact, it was the one iconic image that I was going after -- the reflect of the mountains in the water.
As I waited patiently by the lakeside, I realised that the direction of the sunlight was on the wrong side. I knew that I would have to return the next morning for that reflection. However, the lake area was very scenic as all the yellow leaves were slowing falling off. Even though I didn't get the shot that afternoon, I had a relaxing time at the lake.

The next morning I rushed back to the lake and set up my money shot before sunrise. As soon as a reasonable of light was visible, I started clicking at that shutter but none of the shots were even remotely good, until the first ray of light finally hit directly at the tip of the mountain top. The next 10 minutes were just magic. While the mountains were beginning to be lit, the reflection in the water was also improving. Finally, both sides reached a perfect balance and the scene was just amazing. I really wished that the water was more calm though; it was moving quickly and the reflection in most photos came out "fuzzy".
